Volker Trommsdorff, born 1943, has held the first marketing chair at the Technical University of Berlin since 1978. Additionally he is a Professor at the Chinese-German College of the Tongji University (CDHK) in Shanghai, China, as well as the subject coordinator for business studies at the CDHK. As co-founder and faculty member at the Institute for Management and Technology, IMT Berlin, he has been active in continuing management education in innovation and communication management since 1989. He considers the integration of technical, business management, and psychological insights into the approach to problems in marketing practice to be important. His research is concentrated on theories of consumer behavior, methods of market research, innovation marketing and international marketing. These are also his focus when cooperating with industrial, commercial, or service companies.

Volker Trommsdorff continues to provide t+d with advice even today. Together with t+d and the Marketing Chair of the TU Berlin he has offered a successful innovation workshop since 1987. The innovation workshop is a practice-oriented, four week course, supporting companies from very different branches in the development of marketing strategies for innovative products and technologies.
